Our Amazing Cast

This is a true ensemble piece. Everyone sings in the show and everyone plays an instrument.

That said here is a picture of "the band"

And here are our main "vocalists"

Philadelphia and Beyond

Just got back from a day in Philadelphia to see the new Philadelphia Theatre Company space. I have had the good luck to work for PTC twice in the past directing both The Last Five Years and Elegies: A Song Cycle. The theatre's great artistic director Sara Garonzik has asked me to direct:

I couldn't be more excited. It is really a breathtaking play. As I said today I was in Philly looking at PTC's new theatre with my set designer Mike Fagin, lighting designer Chris Lee, and costume designer Helen Huang. The theatre is stunning! And it somehow keeps the charm and intimacy of the old space. Seeing the new theatre got me even more excited about the play.

Tomorrow I'm off to Amarillo Texas to direct the national tour of-

for Phoenix Entertainment.

Next time you here from me, I'll be deep in the heart (well the panhandle really) of Texas.

The Mysteries of Harris Burdick

Just got back from the Berkshires, where I just spent four amazing weeks working at Barrington Stage Company. For the past few years I have been working on the musical The Mysteries of Harris Burdick inspired by the book by Chris Van Allsburg. I'm directing as well as writing the book with the amazing team of composer Chris Miller and lyricist Nathan Tysen. Julie Boyd and Bill Finn invited us up to work on the show as part of the Musical Theatre Lab. We got a tremendous amount of work done in large part due to our amazingly brilliant cast: Donnay Lynne Champlin, Michael Winther, Lynne Wintersteller, Matt Caplan, Caroline McMahon, and Charlie Brady. Again, it was a fantastically, productive, time, and we're very proud of the work. And I adore this cast.

Here's Nathan with copies of Chris Van Allsburg's beautiful pictures displayed behind him.

Here is Michael Winther, Matt Caplan, Lynne Wintersteller, and Charlie Brady in rehearsal.
