Maui, Whales, and War Letters

Well I just arrived home from one of those dream experiences. To catch you up:

Jason Robert Brown (yes, that Last Five Years, Parade, etc. Jason Robert Brown- as if there were any other) and I have been talking for over a year about writing a musical together. We knew that it had something to do with war letters and that we wanted women involved. Other than that...

Well, we both got very busy and didn't get any work done on it. A couple of months ago Karyl Lynn Burns from Rubicon Theatre Company in Ventura California who had originally talked to us about doing a show called me to ask where we were with it, and I had to say that other than a general idea there was nothing down on paper. She asked what we needed to continue, and I said that I needed to get something down on paper to give Jason that he could respond to. She offered to send me someplace where I could write. So.... my boyfriend Brian and I have been on Maui for the past 8 days. And... I actually finished a full first draft of a script! I can't even get into how glorious and productive the trip was but....

Here is a view from out hotel window where we saw whales every morning:

And here is the view in the other direction:

And here is a shot of my adorable boyfriend Brian that I took on one of our stops along the beautiful (and winding) Road to Hana:
